The importance of a good start

I was thinking about what we wanted to focus on this week at work. It's a short week due to a wonderful Thanksgiving so we have to make sure we make the most of the time we have. That's when I knew that we needed to have a good start to the week if we wanted to have success in this short period of time.

That got me thinking about the Calgary Flames and when they made their run to the Stanley cup finals back in 2004. What was incredible about their run is that in every single game whoever scored the first goal, won that hockey game. Unfortunately for the flames and fans alike, they didn't score the first goal in the final game.

I feel that example really illustrates the importance of having a good start. Had they not scored first in any of the games they did, they might not have even made it as far as they did. On the flip side, because they didn't have the start they wanted they lost everything.

If you want to have a good result at anything in life, you need to have a good start. Don't hold back, don't wait to build momentum, create momentum right from the get go. Don't make it so everyday you wake up playing catch up. Start strong and in the case that everything goes right, you'll end up with some truly relaxing time to do whatever it is you desire.
